Features of translation of Vasyl Stus`s poetry

This study reviews the development of translation, establishes the peculiarities of translation of belles-lettres, including poetry, identifies the main difficulties that arise when translating from Ukrainian. The work illustrates the peculiarities of the translation of the poetic language of Vasyl Stus by the method of comparative analysis of original works with translations into German, English and Russian. The results are based on the analysis of 24 poems, including 7 in Ukrainian, 4 in German, 2 in English and 11 in Russian, in terms of common and distinctive features between the original and translations in verse size, syntactic, lexical and stylistic structures of texts.
