Analysis of the representation of weapons in Polish battle painting of the XIX-XX centuries
Keywords:
art; battle painting; weaponsAbstract
The article is devoted to the analysis of the reflection of weapons in Polish battle painting of the XIX– XX centuries, search for inaccuracies and errors, conscious and unconscious historical distortions. Research methods are descriptive-narrative, analytical-synthetic, inductive-deductive, problem-chronological, generalization, content analysis, historical-typological. The paper proves that Polish masters of battle painting mostly had enough skills and historical information to realistically depict weapons, equipment and other military aspects in their work, but historical authenticity was not a priority for Polish artists, as their main task was the transmission of emotions, and historical authenticity was fulfilled only when it corresponded to artistic goals.
