The research examines the existing problems of identifying ornaments, signs and brands on the example of a step-by-step study of several decorated household axes of the XVII–XVIII centuries, found by chance, in the Pyatnychan Forest of Vinnytsia. Experience of cooperation with state institutions and private collections. Overview of modern additional features as; passages of auctions, expositions with augmented reality and expert communities and thematic sites. Also, needs, proposals and developments regarding the creation of a universal research platform at the interstate level.
