Abstract

The article examines the issue of the image of the state and its components, the influence of the negative components of the collective image of countries on the overall representation, and, in particular, the coverage of the negative components of the image of the Russian Federation according to certain criteria using the example of various international sources using opinion polls. The structural and functional approach is involved in this study. It encompasses the identification of specific elements of the country’s image, on the basis of which the analysis was carried out. In the course of the study, it can be concluded that the image of the state is an ambiguous phenomenon, which includes many indicators, in particular, negative ones, which can significantly affect the general image of a particular subject of international relations. The Russian Federation is an example of an ambiguous player in the international arena, the components of whose image only reinforce the negative perception of the state by the international community.
